THE DAILY SHOW WITH TREVOR NOAH

vlcsnap-2015-09-29-12h40m51s239

Trevor Noah finally made his debut as the The Daily Show host and pretty much made a good impression. I laughed all through the entire show!

Trevor Noah took over the show after Jon Stewart and personally I feel 20 minutes was way to little for the first episode.

On to my favorite thing about comedy, jokes. I have a number of best ones but I will quote a few, literally!!

  • “Jon Stewart was more than just a late night host. He was often our voice, our refuge, and in many ways, our political dad, and now it’s weird, because dad has left. And now, it feels like the family has a new step dad, and he’s black, which is not ideal.”
  • “It turns out that Comedy Central did ask women to host, and the women they asked turned the job down, because they all had better things to do and clearly knew something I didn’t. Also, why didn’t they get an American to host? Again, Comedy Central tried, and those people also declined. So once more, a job Americans rejected is now being done by an immigrant.”
  • “Seeing as this is my first show, we wanted to start it off with something a little light, so here we go…Syria!”

vlcsnap-2015-09-29-12h41m54s102

Senior Congressional Respondent Jordan Kleeper also made an impression. While responding to the resignation of Congress Speaker John Boehner’s resignation, he was on his way to a breakdown.

vlcsnap-2015-09-29-12h45m27s195 vlcsnap-2015-09-29-12h45m47s138

“The desk is different, there’s a new font, I mean nobody asked me! I just bought a condo. Why’d I buy a condo?!”

Roy Wood, Senior Mars Correspondent also killed it when responding to the discovery of water in Mars.

” I can tell you that I don’t give a s–t”. He further added, ” A brother can’t catch a cab you think he can catch a spaceship?!” Hands down!!!

vlcsnap-2015-09-29-12h47m16s0 vlcsnap-2015-09-29-12h48m30s18

And  Kevin Hart stopped by, setting the record for most appearances.

vlcsnap-2015-09-29-12h50m06s211

All in all, the show was a huge success and I am now a fan of the Daily Show!

EMPIRE SEASON 2

Empire 2

Well well well! Ladies and Gentlemen Empire is back and I mean BACK! The first episode of season 2 ‘The Devils are Here’ aired Wednesday and I must give thumbs up to Lee Daniels for an incredible first episode.

Season 1 introduced us to the Lyon family and the ups and downs they went through to get to where they are now; with the season ending with Lucius going to jail making Jamal the new CEO of Empire.

Season 2 begins three months after the events of season 1 where Cookie and the rest of the family have organized a free Lucious concert.

vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h05m47s73

Cookie, being Cookie enters the stage in a gorilla suit and gets the crowd going with advocating justice for Lucious.

vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h07m16s217 vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h06m55s13

A number of people made cameos in the first episode including Swizz Beats who performed with Jamal and Hakeem at the ‘FreeLuciousConcert’.

vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h05m57s193 vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h08m26s144 vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h08m57s202

Well speaking of Jamal, since he took over from his dad he has been cranky, arrogant and pretty much bossy. The job has taken a toll on him to the point interfering with his studio time. He has shown loyalty to his father to the point of chasing his mom and brothers out of their family home which prompts Cookie to slap him twice *ouch!* Hopefully that will change soon.

vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h20m07s232 vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h32m27s218

Cookie on the other hand is working with her sons, Andre and Hakeem plus Anika to stage a hostile takeover and take the company from Lucius. They seem to have an interested investor Mimi (Marisa Tomei) who  turns on them and sticks by Lucious.

vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h09m29s246 vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h11m38s21 vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h12m03s251

The long awaited appearance by Chris Rock is over. He plays Frank Gathers, a drug dealer who Lucious and Cookie worked for back in the day. He sends his signature rose to Cookie and her sister for the hit she ordered way back in Season 1. Cookie gathers her children and her sister’s family at Lucious’ house and goes to visit her ex husband to help her fix the problem.

vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h13m56s102 vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h15m12s105 vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h16m30s116 vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h09m52s243

Lucious once again proves that he is always on top by turning Frank’s against him in order to protect Cookie.

vlcsnap-2015-09-25-11h17m23s139

Well that was episode one, I am looking forward to the next 17!

GOTHAM SEASON 2

Gotham3

I must say that I am glad that most of my favourite  TV shows are back  and I have to start with the recap of the newest show so far, Gotham.

A little recap is in order. As we all know Penguin killed Fish Mooney *sobs* and took over the Gotham crime kingdom or so to speak, making Don Falcone retire.

Speaking of Penguin, he is pretty much enjoying himself as the new boss.

vlcsnap-2015-09-24-11h46m36s83

On to season 2, the episode titled “Damned if you do” sees James Gordon  demoted to uniform duty and we see him directing traffic when a certain Zardan, the soul killer disrupts the peace forcing him to make an arrest. This forces police commissioner Leob to take away Jim’s gun and badge leaving him totally on edge.

vlcsnap-2015-09-24-11h48m33s35

Jim goes to Penguin to help him get his job back, provided he helps Penguin recover a debt from a strip club owner who owed Falcone money. Jim recovers the money but ends up killing the strip club owner.

vlcsnap-2015-09-24-11h53m23s126 vlcsnap-2015-09-24-11h54m55s43

Jim’s partner Harvey Bullock resigned from the GCPD and he seems happy with his new life. Its good to see that he still got his partner’s back.

vlcsnap-2015-09-24-11h51m05s24

Penguin keeps his promise and forces commissioner Leob to resign his post and GCPD’s captain Essen is given the position.

Speaking of Bruce Wayne, he found the passage behind his library and found a steel door which needed a password to get in. He eventually enlists a reluctant Alfred to blow up the door and he finds a cave where his dad left him a letter and asks him to chose the right path, when he has found his true calling.

vlcsnap-2015-09-24-12h00m49s26 vlcsnap-2015-09-24-12h01m41s19

And what will Gotham be without new villains. Gotham welcomes two villains, siblings Theo and Tabitha Galavan who break out Barbara Keen and a few Arkham Asylum inmates to help him spread havoc and mayhem in Gotham City.

vlcsnap-2015-09-24-11h58m54s120 vlcsnap-2015-09-24-11h57m23s241

So basically the episode was a plus, looking forward to many story arcs that have developed in the first episode.

007 SPECTRE

1

007 is back! And from the pictures I have seen online, I must say that I am looking forward to this  James Bond film.

This year’s film is titled SPECTRE and it looks very interesting, considering I have only watched the trailer.

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the infamous James Bond, making this his fourth 007 movie. The film’s antagonist, Franz Oberhauser will be played by Christoph Waltz.

3

PREMISE: After the attack on MI6 by Raoul Silva (Skyfall), a cryptic message sets James Bond on a mission where he comes face to face with a criminal organization called SPECTRE. Meanwhile, Gareth Mallory, the new M continues to fight political pressure that puts the future of MI6 at risk.

The story features Bond’s first encounter with the criminal organization SPECTRE making it its first appearance since its mention in the 1971 film Diamonds are Forever.

Other notable cast in the movie include:

Ralph Fiennes as M                                                                                                                                                               Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny                                                                                                                                          Lea Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swan                                                                                                                                   Monica Belluci as Lucia Sciarra (Bond Girl)                                                                                                                             Ben Whishaw as Q

Production begun on 8th December 2015 with Sam Mendes returning to the director’s chair. Filming took place for 7 months with London, Mexico City and Rome serving as the film locations. Filming concluded on July 5th this year.

SPECTRE will be released in London on October 26th and the worldwide premiere on November 6th.

Take a look at the trailer which was released last week.

EMMY AWARDS 2015

Emmy-Awards-key-art

So I have been waiting for the Emmy Nominations to be announced for like forever!!! But the wait is finally over!!!!

It has been an incredible year for a few TV Shows and their stars. Well, Gina Rodriguez is doing pretty well, considering she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a comedy, hopefully she is in the Emmy list for Actress in a Comedy.
